I missed a little bit on the noob island, make sure you scrape the walls there, I wasn't as careful (too excited to get going on quests and missions I guess). Also, if you are foreign make sure you scrape the area before the very first mission. (NOTE: that you will not be able to map the "training" area). Also, there is an arena in Kamadan that you can't get in over level 10 I think, but the staging area can be mapped.
As for checking your map, at the top of this furm there should be a "guide" to becoming an elonian GMC. In there you will see posted maps, all you have to do is open one of the maps in windows to full size, then open your "u" map in the game and expand it. Then it is just a matter of alt tabbing back and forth to line the maps up and see what you might have missed. It's really a pretty simple exercise...

I was stuck at 99.6 for a long time. Found out I missed several very small areas in the Poinsoned Outcrops. It can be a difficult area, so you may need to bring some guildmates or be prepared to die several times.

here's the method I use:
Download Gimp 2.0 (free photo editing software)
Get a screenshot of a fully cleared map
Take a screenshot (in the same resolution as other) of your map while holding Shift so that the outposts aren't shown
Open up the full map with Gimp
Open up your map as a layer
Use the Grain Extract tool
All similarities will be covered in grey while places you haven't covered will be visible. I used this method to get Tyrian and Canthan max cartographers titles (working on Elona now)
If you need anymore help, send me a pm

Quite right.
Back in the days map-checking was free I had mine checked to reveal that there was quite a few spots in the sea off the southern coast of the issnur isles. Also, have you paid a visit to the low-level PvP arena in Kamadan? Although you can't use the arena the outpost was worth 0.1% for me.

take several screenshots over the course of maybe 30 seconds, then do the comparison with the one that is the closest to your 100% map.

The clouds will line up as long as you zoom out and take the screenshot immediatly (like in 2-3 sec). As long as the comparison is smooth, and not mottled, it's good.

alternatively, hit U, and resize that window to fill your screen and compare that map.

sometimes the fog isn't obvious and you just have to run around in the MIDDLE of zones. You spend so much time with your face shoved into a wall that you can't see 'invisible fog' in the middle of the sand. :P
(I'm sitting at 99.9% on my ranger right now with this very same problem)
